Can you use ElevenLabs audio commercially?
Only on a paid plan. The free tier is licensed for personal use and nothing else:
- The terms are explicit: a Free User "may only use the Services for non-commercial purposes".
- A Paid User "may use the Services for commercial purposes", so client work, ads, and monetized video all need a paid subscription.
- There is a tell in the terms worth noticing: non-commercial use "must" be on a personal email address. A voice generated on a free account under a company domain is already outside the license.
- Paid or not, the Prohibited Use Policy still applies, and so does consent for any real person’s voice.
What this means for marketers
A free-tier export in anything that makes money breaches the license, no matter who consented to the voice. Worth checking which plan the audio was actually generated on before it ships, because this is the kind of thing nobody asks about until a client’s legal team does.
