Can we use an AI copy of a real person’s voice or face?

Only with their consent. California SB 1111 says a realistic AI copy of someone’s voice or likeness falls under the state’s right of publicity, the same rule that covers their photo.

What this means for marketers

Starts January 1, 2027, and national ads usually reach California. Worth considering: get written consent for any AI soundalike or lookalike of a real person, including your own staff or CEO.
