Pinterest and AI content
The question marketers ask about Pinterest, each answered from Pinterest's own policy rather than someone's summary of it.

How does Pinterest treat AI content?
Allowed, labeled, and in some categories users can ask to see less of it:
- Pinterest adds an "AI modified" label, shown in the close-up at the bottom left when you click a Pin.
- Detection is not just metadata. Pinterest reads the IPTC Metadata Standard and also runs classifiers that catch Gen AI content with no markers on it at all.
- Ads work differently: the label does not appear on click. It sits behind the ellipsis icon with the other ad details.
- Its tuner lets users see less GenAI content in categories "highly prone to AI modification or generation like beauty, art, fashion and home decor".
- The community guidelines still apply: Pins have to be authentic and not misleading.
What this means for marketers
Nothing is banned, but Pinterest is the one platform with a live dial for users to see less of this, and it points at beauty, art, fashion and home decor. Worth weighing before an all-AI campaign in exactly those categories, and worth knowing the classifiers do not need a watermark to label you.
