Do you have to disclose AI on Etsy?
Yes, in the listing, and AI work also changes which category you are selling in:
- Etsy’s Seller Policy: "If an item is created through the use of artificial intelligence, you must disclose this in your relevant listings."
- AI work is allowed, but Etsy files it under "Designed by a seller" as "Seller-prompted AI creations", not under made by a seller.
- So the disclosure alone is not enough: presenting AI output as handmade breaks Etsy’s creativity standards even if the listing mentions AI.
What this means for marketers
Disclose in the description and list it as designed, not made. Etsy has been rewriting its seller policies through 2026, so worth re-reading the current version before a big launch.
